This June 18–21, on the Summer Solstice, we need your help to make the longest days of the year really matter!
Take a dip for mental health — your own, and for those around you.
As the sun sets, we’ll come together in hope, connection, and community — because no one should have to face mental health challenges alone.
By creating your very own DIP@DUSK community event you'll be helping us here at Grow Mental Health share support across towns and cities around the country. If you would rather register to take part in an existing event or do a solo dip that's possible to.
Every contribution helps us keep our support groups free, accessible, and there when people need them most.
No matter how you decide to do your DIP@DUSK, consider setting up a fundraising page and sharing it with your community.
Sign up early. Show your support. Stand with others.
Because together, we can ensure that no one faces mental health challenges alone.

I took part in Trasna, a relay race across Ireland, last year to raise money for Grow Mental Health, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever been involved in.
This year, I’m unable to take part in the run across Ireland due to health issues I’ve been dealing with over the past few months. Since then, I’ve been looking for new ways to get outside, challenge myself, and step outside my comfort zone.
This event is a great opportunity to meet new people, try something new, and raise money for a fantastic charity that does such important work

Killinney Beach Dip at Dusk

I have chosen to raise funds by taking a dip during the longest days of the year. Why? Well, firstly I love the mental health benefits of a cold dip. When I am in the water, any worries or negative feelings melt away. My head is clear and I am connected to the sheer power of nature.
Secondly, I know the power of connecting and having fun with other people. Being with friends and family recharges my mental health battery.
Finally, Grow Mental Health is a charity that provides life-changing support to anyone in Ireland (over 18) dealing with mental health challenges. I know the effects work stress and life in general can have on my mental wellbeing. I am glad that Grow exists and want to make sure they can carry on providing and expand their network of free, inclusive, mental health peer support groups in communities all over Ireland and online.

Come for. a DIP@DUSK with me at Portmarnock Beach and help me raise funds from Grow Mental Health. We will start with a gentle yoga and breath work session at 8:30 and then together we will jump into the sea as the sun sets on the longest day of the year.
With more and more people seeking mental health support and waiting lists longer than ever. Grow MH want to ensure everyone in Ireland over 18 knows there's a free weekly support group meeting in a town or city near you. Help me make sure that happens.

Tips for your DIP@DUSK
Always respect the water and read the guidelines above for safe swimming.
Know your own limits and listen to advice from officials regarding weather and water conditions.
Keep warm!
The weather can be unpredictable in Ireland.
If the summer soltice is a chilly one, arrive warm, get ready to swim quickly, and do not stand around on shore in your swimwear.
Be sure to have dry clothes and even a hot drink ready to go for your post-dip warm-up.
And if you're still feeling cold, the fastest way to properly warm up after you swim is exercise. A brisk walk after you have fully dressed and recovered, or running on the spot, or jumping jacks will stop the shivering in no time.
Make a Dip plan and find a buddy.
Familiarise yourself with the location of nearby lifeguard stations or emergency services. Having a buddy system is also advisable to assist if need and will double the fun.
In cold water, stay relatively close to the shore so you can return to the shore quickly when you are ready to leave.
Our services are free of charge.
Your support will mean so much to people all over Ireland who reach out to us daily. People who are feeling alone in their mental health challenges. People who want to be seen and heard in their struggles.
